Rock star James Stiles is in a coma and everyone in Los Angeles is in mourning. Everyone, that is, except Amelia 'Eely' Jacobson who has her own problems to deal with, including absentee parents, unemployment and friends who derive joy from backstabbing. Then, a rare stone sent to her in the mail puts her under - in a coma just like Jason Stiles. She finds herself in the realm of the mysterious stone, where the consciousness of hundreds of people in comas all around the world are trapped...waiting for a savior to get them out.
